defendant, Bosnian Croat General Tihomir Blaskic.

Last week the defence called six witnesses, introducing 73 new
pieces of evidence, in an attempt to challenge a 3 March 2000 ruling
which sentenced Blaskic to 45 years in jail for war crimes against
civilians committed in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the 1990s.
Blaskic has been in custody since 1 April 1996.
