The LS, the People's Party (HNS), the Social Democrats (SDP), the Peasant Party (HSS), the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), and the Pensioners' Party (HSU) have not signed any agreement but will issue a joint statement in a few days, Benasic, a former Osijek deputy mayor, said after the meeting.
Asked whether they discussed candidates for the post of mayor, Benasic answered in the negative. He added, though, that it was well known that the head of the LS-HNS-SBHS-Croatian Green list at the elections, Zlatko Kramaric, was their candidate, and he hoped that "other coalition partners will agree with that as well".
A task force consisting of members of the coalition partners will be set up to prepare the founding session of the City Council, Benasic said.
He said that similar negotiations would also be held on the level of Osijek County.
Asked to comment on yesterday's coalition agreement for the Osijek City Council and the Osijek County Assembly between Branimir Glavas, the head of the Independent List, and Party of Rights (HSP) leader Anto Djapic, Benasic said it was their right to do so. Glavas and Djapic said their coalition lacked one seat in the city government and two seats in the county assembly to have an absolute majority,
Demonstrating confidence that they would form the government in Osijek, 12 elected members of that coalition too issued a statement today supporting Zlatko Kramaric "in his decision to once again run for the post of Osijek mayor".
