Speaking to Croatian reporters at the end of an EBRD conference in Belgrade, Lamierre said Croatia was developing well and was clearly committed to the European Union. He added there were difficulties, but they were part of the process.
He was asked for a comment on an article in the Financial Times to the effect that the EBRD and the Serbian government were disappointed that the Croatian delegation attending the conference had not been of the highest level.
Lamierre said the Croatian delegation had taken part in the conference at all levels and panels and made a successful presentation. He added it was up to the government to decide the level of the delegation. He said Croatia had taken part in the conference at the level it had thought appropriate, not because of the EBRD or its annual conference but because of the region's history.
The EBRD's 14th annual assembly ended on Monday.
