As in recent months, living costs were highest in southwest Croatia (5,864 kuna) and lowers in the east (5,327 kuna).
A four-member family could survive only 23 days on the average monthly salary and if they had a car, only 20 days.
Housing accounts for 48 per cent of living costs, food for 26.2 per cent, education and culture for 8.96 per cent, clothing for eight per cent, transport for 5.75 per cent, and hygiene for 2.87 per cent.
People manage to survive by taking loans, running debts on their credit cards, and working illegally, the SSH said.
