The workshop heard the Croatia's entry into the common European energy market would give the national power supply company a series of development chances and consumers a wider choice and more favourable tariffs.
The workshop was organised by the European Commission Delegation in Croatia, the Economy Ministry, and the World Bank.
Assistant Economy Minister Zeljko Tomsic told the press that an agreement on Croatia's access to the common European energy market had been initialled and was expected to be signed in the summer. He said the agreement was expected to go into force in 2006, by which time Croatia is expected to adopt some 50 laws and regulations as well as set up supervisory and independent regulatory institutions in accordance with EU guidelines.
