Moratinos voiced confidence that Croatia would fulfil its obligations and start talks on full EU membership.
Mesic said that the relations between Croatia and Spain were good, adding that it was necessary to strengthen economic cooperation. He also said that Spain's development after admission to the EU was an example of how one can make use of EU pre-accession and structural funds.
Moratinos welcomed the interest in developing bilateral cooperation, which he said could be expanded to the areas of economy, culture and education.
The Spanish minister also met Prime Minister Ivo Sanader. The two officials discussed bilateral relations which they described as very good and friendly, as well as Croatia's road to the EU. Moratinos reiterated his country's full support to Croatia's bid to start EU entry talks as soon as possible.
