Speaking in Tito's place of birth in front of a renovated monument, which was damaged in an explosion last December, Alliance of Antifascist Fighters president Kresimir Piskulic said that "monuments can be destroyed, but Comrade Tito's work cannot".
Piskulic also commented on recent statements in domestic media that two homeland defence wars had been fought in Croatia. "Two antifascist wars and not two homeland wars were fought in Croatia. The first was the (WWII) national liberation struggle, and the second the (1991-5) Homeland War."
Tito's death was commemorated in all former Yugoslav republics.
