VIROVITICA, May 10 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Peasant
Party (HSS), Zlatko Tomcic, said in Virovitica on Tuesday that after the ICTY
Prosecution proposed amending of the indictment against Mladen Markac and Ivica
Cermak, all political factors in Croatia must meet to discuss the situation
and decide about Croatia's future. "I believe that it is not the
time for hasty and irresponsible statements, but it is the time for the most
responsible people of this country - the prime minister, the president and
parliament speaker, as well as political party leaders - to try to objectively
analyse what happened to Croatia. Croatia is in a very difficult situation, in
an entirely new moment which makes us inferior to the European Union," Tomcic
said answering to a reporter's question about the amended indictment.
"Croatia's position is seriously shaken and we are in an unpleasant
situation which can last if Croatia's EU entry talks don't start," Tomcic told
the news conference.
