DUBROVNIK, May 8 (Hina) - The leader of the Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ) and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said at an election rally in
Dubrovnik on Sunday the government was doing all to link Croatia's south with
the rest of the country in terms of infrastructure and that "after the
90-kilometre highway section running from Dugopolje to Ploce is completed, the
highway will be built further down to Dubrovnik". Candidates from
the HDZ/Democratic Centre (DC) list running in the upcoming local elections in
Dubrovnik County were presented at the rally.
Commenting on the current situation in the country, particularly the
case of Branimir Glavas, who was recently ousted from the party, Sanader said
that autonomy-seeking would not be tolerated.
"The international community recognises those countries that solve
their problems on their own and that abide by international rules. That policy
was pursued by the first Croatian president and it is pursued by the incumbent
government," the PM said.
Commenting on the local elections, Sanader said that the HDZ cared
about the even development of all Croatian regions and that progress was
visible in those areas where the HDZ was in power.
