According to their statements, this price hike will deal a blow to the living standards of Croatian citizens and will be an additional burden with no logical explanation.
"While expecting any positive headway pompously announced in the government's economic recovery programme, citizens will receive yet another serious blow to their living standards," reads the HUS statement signed by its leader, Ozren Matijasevic.
He said that the price rise would not produce any positive economic effect.
The NHS said that an analysis of trends in prices of wheat and petroleum showed there was no reason for a rise in prices of bread and bakery products in Croatia.
Earlier in the day, an association of wholesale grain traders and bakeries, called "Zitozajednica", said prices of some bakery products would go up between three and six percent.
