The delegation expressed satisfaction with good cooperation with the authorities of the Republic of Croatia, but noted that "there are some problems at local levels that lead to incidents directed against Serb returnees, which affects their return and integration into Croatian society".
Mesic reiterated that Croatia was fully committed to enabling refugees to come back, and added that "additional efforts should be made to remove the existing obstacles to the return of those who so wish."
The church officials asked for help in reconstructing Orthodox churches and facilities.
They also pointed out very good ecumenical relations with the Catholic Church, and expressed hope that they would be able soon to meet Prime Minister Ivo Sanader for talks on property restitution.
