"Regardless of the motives of the editorial board, the Government of the Republic of Croatia is of the view that articles disparaging and mocking another's religion, nationality, race or world-view should by no means be published in the media. The Government of the Republic of Croatia will always advocate and champion full freedom of the media, but that freedom must also include responsibility for what is published," the press release said.
The government expressed regret over the fact that a Croatian weekly had become involved in the case.
