ZAGREB, Feb 6 (Hina) - The Minister of the Economy, Labour and
Entrepreneurship, Branko Vukelic, proposed a new draft of the Trade Bill to the
social partners on Monday, on which representatives of trade unions, the
Croatian Chamber of the Economy and the Croatian Chamber of Crafts should take
a stand over the next two weeks. Under the new bill, in June, July,
August, September and December shops would stay open from 8am to 1pm on Sundays
and from 6am to 9pm on weekdays and Saturdays. During the rest of the year
only specialist shops, such as bakers, florists, newsstands, petrol stations
and shops at border crossings or terminals, would stay open on Sundays.
Most social partners found the proposal unacceptable.
