ZAGREB, Feb 3 (Hina) - Former leader Zlatko Tomcic will no longer
represent the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) in the national committee monitoring
European Union accession negotiations and will be replaced by incumbent party
president Josip Friscic, the HSS Presidency decided, the party said on
Friday. The official explanation for the move was that the national
committee is made up of party presidents.
Unofficially, the HSS took exception to the fact that Tomcic failed to
attend a recent committee session which addressed the agricultural policy and
failed to inform the party in time about his absence.
