ZAGREB, Feb 1 (Hina) - Social Democratic Party (SDP) deputies on
Wednesday called on the head of the National Office for State Administration,
Antun Palaric, to resign before parliament at once over legalising unlawfully
formed authorities and disregarding election results in some local units,
notably the city of Sisak. Although all deputies endorsed the
government's announcement that it would dissolve authorities established to
have been formed on the basis of resignations, the opposition said in a
parliamentary discussion that the government's amendments to the law on local
elections were unnecessary because they did not prevent trading in councillor
seats.
The SDP put all the blame for such irregularities on Palaric's
office.
