ZAGREB, Jan 31 (Hina) - The presidency of the ruling Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) on Tuesday expressed full support to the party leader
and Croatian Prime Minister, Ivo Sander, over his proposal that the issue of
free trade in southeastern Europe should be dealt with within the admission of
other southeastern European countries into the CEFTA, the HDZ said in a press
release. The HDZ presidency believes that the Central European Free
Trade Agreement has proved to be a good framework for free trade and
preparations of candidate countries for their full membership in the European
Union.
Earlier on Tuesday, Sanader reiterated his position that it was out of
the question for Croatia to agree to the establishment of a Balkan trade
association. That is why his cabinet proposes that this matter be resolved
within the CEFTA.
