The number of new passenger cars sold this July rose 17 percent in comparison to the relevant statistics from July 2006, according to figures which the Promocija Plus market research agency published on Monday.
The agency quoted the Interior Ministry as the source.
The figures show that the car market recovered in July after in June the car sales dropped on a monthly basis.
In the first seven months this year, 51.799 new cars were purchased in Croatia, a 4.6 percent rise as against the comparable period in 2006.
Opel remains the best selling type of car. July saw the sale of 1,343 Opel cars that held over 15 percent of the share in the car market in Croatia.
Renault followed Opel with 1,053 cars of this French manufacturer being sold in July.
Sixty percent of the cars sold in the last seven months were with petrol engines and the rest of 40 percent with diesel engines.
