Speaking to reporters after meeting Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic and Assembly Speaker Oliver Dulic, Kacin said that the handover of the Bosnian Serb war crimes indictee Zdravko Tolimir to the Hague tribunal was proof that Serbia "can show both itself and Europe that it is eager to close the issues of the past and turn to the future."
"All cards are in your hands, and when full cooperation has been achieved, a Stabilisation and Association Agreement will be signed," the Slovene parliamentarian said, adding that as the rapporteur on Serbia he would monitor the country's progress and report to the European Parliament.
The purpose of Kacin's visit was to assess the situation in the country as part of preparations for a report on its progress in membership negotiations with the EU, which will be discussed by the European Parliament this month.
Kacin was scheduled to meet Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, government ministers and leaders of parliamentary parties.
