BELGRADE, May 31 (Hina) - Zdravko Tolimir, accused by the
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), was arrested
at an illegal border crossing between the Bosnian Serb entity and Serbia,
Belgrade's electronic media reported on Thursday afternoon. Tolimir
was a high-ranking officer of the Bosnian Serb army during the 1990s war in
Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Tolimir is charged with genocide and crimes against humanity.
The indictment alleges that he was an assistant to former Bosnian Serb
wartime military leader Ratko Mladic for intelligence and security, that he
therefore knew of the plan to expel Muslims from Srebrenica and Zepa, and that
he took part in its implementation.
