Del Ponte said it was imperative that Serbia locate, arrest and transfer to The Hague the accused at large in the shortest possible time and thus fully complete cooperation with the UN court, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
Sutanovac said the ministry and Serbia's army would meet their legal obligations, but that the fugitives' issue primarily concerned civilian security structures.
Earlier today, del Ponte met Security and Information Agency chief Rado Bulatovic, Military and Security Agency chief Svetko Kovac, and special war crimes prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic. According to some media, she commended Bulatovic on the arrest of former Bosnian Serb army general Zdravko Tolimir.
The Hague tribunal prosecution's information about the circumstances of Tolimir's extradition to The Hague differ from those of the authorities in Belgrade. While Belgrade claims he was arrested in the Bosnian Serb entity, with assistance from Serbia's police, del Ponte's version coincides with what Tolimir said when he was arraigned yesterday, namely that he was transferred to The Hague from Serbia via the Bosnian Serb entity, Belgrade's Radio and Television B92 said today.
Radio and Television B92 also claimed that del Ponte did not understand why the first version was released to the public and that she said it was worrisome that none of the coordinators knew about the arrest operation. She said this detail revealed who the most responsible people in Serbia really were, who could locate and arrest fugitives when they wanted to.
Members of the Serbian parliament's Defence and Security Committee from the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) requested committee chairman Ivica Dacic today to urge the police and defence ministers as well as Bulatovic to submit reports on when and where Tolimir was arrested.
The SRS club of deputies today moved giving a no-confidence vote to the government "over the lie and deception that Tolimir was arrested on Republika Srpska territory".
According to information of Serbia's and the Bosnian Serb entity's interior ministries, Tolimir was arrested on the Serbia-entity border on May 31.
On Wednesday, del Ponte is due to meet Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, Justice Minister Dusan Petrovic and President Boris Tadic, after which she is due to speak to the press.
The chief prosecutor arrived in Belgrade yesterday for a four-day visit.
