The two sides will exchange scientific and technical information, carry out researches and programmes with regard to the execution of punishments, participate in programmes funded by the European Union, and cooperate in preparing and upgrading the training of prison employees.
The cooperation also envisages study visits for judicial police, participation in conferences and seminars, and the linking of judicial police training institutions.
The cooperation agreement was signed in line with Council of the European Union recommendations on the development of and support to regional cooperation and European integration.
This is the first bilateral agreement regulating cooperation in this field, said Ivan Damjanovic, Croatian assistant justice minister and head of the Prison System Administration.
The deputy head of the Hungarian Prison Service, Laszlo Biczo, said the cooperation showed the two sides were partners and voiced confidence that both would benefit from the agreement.
The Hungarian delegation is on a three-day visit to Croatia. They visited prisons in Turopolje and Lepoglava.
