The chairman of the Council is the 50-year-old Serb Nikola Spiric.
Spiric's cabinet, that includes another nine ministers, is the result of agreements on a broad-based coalition consisting of representatives of seven parties: two parties representing the Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks), two parties representing the Serbs, and three parties representing the Croats.
The new Foreign Minister is Sven Alkalaj from the Party for Bosnia-Herzegovina (SBiH).
The parliamentary opposition particularly criticised the appointment of orthopaedic doctor Bozo Ljubic for the Transport Minister. Ljubic is the leader of the Croatian Democratic Union 1990 (HDZ 1990).
The appointment of Selmo Cikotic form the (Muslim) Party of Democratic Action (SDA) also provoked criticism due to his alleged involvement in war crimes against local Croats in the town of Bugojno.
Cikotic can assume the duty not before 22 April when a ban on performing civilian duties in the defence sector by former army officers will expire.
