Bosnjakovic is to succeed Ivan Simonovic, who has recently been appointed UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights. He will be the first person to fill the new post, which was approved by the UN General Assembly in December 2009.
Kosor said that she had easily opted for Bosnjakovic as Simonovic's successor.
According to her, Bosnjakovic, who has so far been justice ministry state secretary, successfully worked in the rationalisation of the infrastructure of courts, and now the number of courts in the country has been reduced by 35 percent.
He has also been engaged in efforts to shorten the time length of court proceedings and in the elaboration of several laws, including the new criminal procedure legislation, rules for administrative disputes etc.
"Therefore i believe that he will excellently perform the duty of Justice Minister," Kosor told the parliament.
Bosnjakovic, born in Vukovar in 1961, graduated from the law school in Zagreb.
In 2003, he was elected as member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in the national parliament. He again won a seat in the parliament at the next elections in 2007 and used to be the chairman of parliamentary committees on the Constitution and on legislation.
Bosnjakovic, a member of the HDZ governing committee, was appointed Justice Ministry State Secretary in January 2008.
