President Josipovic meets ethnic Croats in Kotor

Autor: mses
KOTOR, July 2 (Hina) - Croatian President Ivo Josipovic visited the coastal city of Kotar on Friday, the second day of his two-day official visit to Montenegro.

In Kotor, Josipovic held talks with his Montenegrin counterpart Filip Vujanovic, city mayor Marija Catovic, and Croatian consul-general Bozo Vodopija, as well as with representatives of the local Croat community.

At the talks it was said that the Croat minority played an important role in the process of Montenegro becoming an independent state.

There were many problems in the past, however it is encouraging to see the improvement of the relations between Croatia and Montenegro, both of which pursue a policy of protecting and promoting minority rights, Josipovic said.

He expressed satisfaction with activities of Croats in the Boka Kotorska Bay's cultural life, and announced the opening of new facilities of the Croatian consulate in Kotor next year.

Vujanovic said that both countries were treating well their minorities and expressed conviction that both countries would facilitate the free flow of people at their joint border crossings.
