PRISTINA, May 21 (Hina) - The US recognition of Kosovo's independence is irreversible, Vice President Joseph Biden said in talks with Kosovo's top officials on Thursday, strongly supporting the preservation of Kosovo's territorial integrity and the creation of a multiethnic society as well as commending the efforts in Kosovo's reconstruction.

The United States' recognition of independence is an irreversible process, Biden said after talks with President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci.

He guaranteed that the borders of Europe's newest country would remain untouched, underlining that the preservation of Kosovo's unity was an absolute issue for the US and the preservation of territorial integrity the minimum the US would not cross.

Sejdiu said the Kosovo people were grateful for the support in gaining freedom and establishing peace, stability and development in Kosovo, while Thaci said Biden's visit reaffirmed US support for the progress Kosovo had achieved.

During the talks, the two Kosovo leaders said they were willing to build Kosovo as a democratic and multiethnic society with equal opportunities for all citizens.

Later today, Biden will address the Kosovo Parliament, visit the Serb Orthodox Chruch's Visoki Decani monastery and the US camp Bondsteel near Urosevac, where he will address US troops.
