PRISTINA, April 29 (Hina) - Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin
Kuqi on Wednesday called on the Russian government to recognise the
independence of his country, saying that such a move by Moscow would contribute
to the stability of the region. "Russia can do two things: step up
pressure on Belgrade and persuade them against using force, and recognise the
independence of Kosovo," Kuqi said at a news conference held for a group of
journalists from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, who were on a
several-day tour of Kosovo.
Kuqi said Kosovo regarded Russia as a friendly country.
