DALJ, May 29 (Hina) - An exhibition about the life and work of geophysicist Milutin Milankovic was opened in his birth-town of Dalj, eastern Croatia, on Friday, as part of events celebrating the 130th birth anniversary of this
scientist of Serb descent.
DALJ, May 29 (Hina) - An exhibition about the life and work of
geophysicist Milutin Milankovic was opened in his birth-town of Dalj, eastern
Croatia, on Friday, as part of events celebrating the 130th birth anniversary
of this scientist of Serb descent. The exhibition with photos and
other documents about Milankovic was officially opened in his home in Dalj by
Croatia's Deputy Prime Minister Slobodan Uzelac, who described Milankovic as a
great scientist.
The head of the Croatian Weather Service, Uvan Cacic, said that
Milankovic was best known for having analysed variations of the Earth's orbit
and for having charted long-term climate change.
UNESCO added the 130th anniversary of Milankovic's birth to a list of
major events in 2009.
