According to preliminary statistics released last Monday, Luxembourg tops the rankings with 268 percent of the the EU27 average across the Member States.
Luxembourg also had the best results in 2008 with 253 percent of the EU27 average.
In 2009, Ireland, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden had the GDP per inhabitant, expressed in Purchasing Power Standards (PPS), between 20 percent and 30 percent above the EU average,
GDP per capita in Finland, France, Spain and Italy was up to 10 percent above the bloc's average.
Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Malta, Portugal and Slovakia were in a group of countries with GDP per capita ranging between 10 percent and 30 percent below the EU average.
Having 64 percent of the EU27 average, Croatia fared better than, for example, Hungary with 63 percent of the EU27 average.
In 2009, Bulgaria, Romania and Latvia were at the bottom scoring respectively 41 percent, 45 percent and 49 percent of the EU average GDP per capita.
