Zagreb to host Moroccan culture days next week

ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - Moroccan Ambassador Moulay Abbes El Kadiri presented to reporters in Zagreb on Thursday the Days of Moroccan Culture, Gastronomy, Trades and Crafts to take place in the Croatian capital on April 9-14 on the occasion of the official opening of the Moroccan Embassy to Croatia on April 12.

This will be Morocco's first presentation in Croatia and is part of its efforts to connect civilisations and nations, an opportunity to become acquainted with Morocco's culture through exhibitions, trades and crafts workshops, culinary presentations, food tasting, and a Moroccan fashion show, said El Kadiri, Morocco's first resident ambassador in Croatia.

Recognised Moroccan artists will visit Croatia as part of next week's event.

Morocco wants a cultural and trade exchange with Croatia, El Kadiri said, announcing that Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic would probably visit Morocco in the autumn.

Moroccan Foreign Minister Saad-Eddine El Othmani will attend the opening of the Moroccan Embassy in Zagreb together with Pusic next Friday, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said.

The two ministers met in November in Cairo on the fringes of an European Union-Arab League ministerial meeting. They talked about signing an agreement that would encompass institution building and cooperation in many areas, such as culture and education.

El Othmani and Pusic said the EU border must not be an obstacle to cooperation, mobility and building of new values and that the key to the development and democratisation of North Africa lay in dialogue between both sides of the Mediterranean, notably on topics pertaining to the common area of security, economic cooperation and value.
