Croatian parliament speaker visits Estonia

ZAGREB/TALLINN, March 12 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko officially visited Estonia on Tuesday, holding talks with Parliament Speaker Ene Ergma and Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, Leko's office said in a press release.

Ergma congratulated Croatia on its upcoming European Union accession, saying the EU was a large and diverse community whose members were powerful only together, whereas divided they had nothing.

She said that together with Slovenia, Croatia would have a special role in encouraging other Southeast European countries in their European integration.

Leko said Croatia was a stable democracy with a system for the protection of human rights, adding that Croatia was aware of its role in Southeast Europe and that it was willing to share its experience with the countries in the region.

At the meeting with Ansip, the two officials reiterated the wish that Croatia and Estonia continue cooperating within the EU. Ansip said Croatia was welcome in the EU and that he was pleased that Croatia and Slovenia had solved the Ljubljanska Banka issue.
