An assembly of all Albanian deputies from the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja adopted the resolution urging Serbia to adopt measures to improve the position of Albanians in south Serbia by equalising their rights with those of Serbs in north Kosovo.
The resolution will be sent to the Serbian government, the international community and the Kosovo government, and mostly refers to the exercise of the political rights of Albanians in Presevo Valley, said Jonuz Musliu, leader of the Movement for Democratic Progress.
Bujanovac Municipality President Naqip Arifi said the demands also referred to the complete integration of Albanians into state bodies, complete security, economic recovery, official use of alphabet, language and insignia, decentralisation in the judiciary, education, culture and information, and health care.
Belgrade has not taken a position on the demands yet.
