Today's volume, estimated at only 6,500 lots, contributed to late-session volatility, dealers said. The December contract ended off 0.02 at 72.73, having ranged narrowly from 73.40 to 72.60. The deferred months closed 0.25 higher to 0.12 lower. While industry sources expect prices to weaken in the near-term, declining global output could lend some support to the market. In Pakistan, recent estimates put the crop between 8.5 million and 9.0 million 375-lb bales, compared with previous estimates of 11.0 million bales. Weak production could eliminate exports from Pakistan. Technically, major resistance was pegged at 73.50 in December, where trade selling is likely to emerge. Floor sources said the market is likely to trade rangebound ahead of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly export and sales report, released Thursday. 301121 MET oct 96
