Three months delivery was last at $1,944 per tonne, a $20 gain from Thursday's LME kerb close. Traders said even the substantial stocks decline failed to really rally the market and they are expecting prices to remain within their recent parameters in later LME trading. Earlier copper dipped to a low of $1,932 on news of a return to work by striking workers at Kennecott. Following a meeting between union officials and Kennecott, the union had advised that the strikers would return to work at 1500 local time in Utah on Friday. Aluminium failed to deliver upside gains following a stocks rise of 4,300 tonnes. Earlier several traders predicted stocks would fall by 20,000 tonnes. However, the upticking copper market helped to offset a decline towards $1,340, according to one trader. Traders said they do expect aluminium stocks to start falling over the coming weeks. Last business was at $1,365, a loss of $4. Other metals remained quiet. Nickel, despite a stocks rise, was last indicated little changed at $7,080/$7,090 versus $7,080. Zinc settled $3 higher at $1,021, while lead was last at $737, up $5. Tin moved to $5,980 on light trade buying from Thursday's $5,955. Alloy was last at $1,230/35, against $1,240.
