Selling levels had been pressured downwards slightly by the lack of clear direction from the Malaysian palm oil futures and the absence of fresh market-moving news. The palm oil sector closed mostly unchanged to $5 lower, apart from Aug/Sep crude palm oil which closed at $522.50, down $7.50. During the afternoon session the only reported trade in the palm oil sector was for RBD oil, with $502.50 paid for both Jun and Aug/Sep. The soft oils finished one guilder down to 0.25 guilder higher. They appeared to have largely ignored the firmer stance seen on early Chicago soybean oil future trading. Aug/Oct soy oil fetched 106.00 guilders. Coconut oil closed unchanged to $2.50 lower having traded Aug/Sep material at $630 and Oct/Nov at $627.50.
