This was the highest level since late August 1995. Merino fleece was dearer, with 19/21 microns slightly dearer, 20m 0.5 percent dearer, 22/24m 1.5 percent dearer, and 23/25/26m two percent dearer. Merino skirtings were up to two percent dearer. In crossbreds, 27/28/29m were up to two percent dearer, with 30/31m 1.5 percent dearer, with crossbred skirtings one percent dearer. In cardings, lambs were unchanged, locks one percent dearer, and crutchings slightly dearer. WI said Japanese interests including China were principal buyers with good support from Western Europe. Of the 24,068 bales offered, 4.7 percent were passed in. Sales continue next week in Sydney, Adelaide and Fremantle with about 77,000 bales to be offered. _________________________________________________________________ Bradford - cijene vune - 12. lipnja 1997. cijene u penijima/kg _________________________________________________________________ MERINO CROSSBRED 70s SUPER 560 58s SUPER 389 66s SUPER 512 58s BLENDED 368 64s SUPER 438 56s SUPER 355 64s BLENDED 430 54s CARDED 335 60s SUPER 390 50s CARDED 325 60s BLENDED 390 58s ENGLISH 268 56s ENGLISH 256 50s ENGLISH 253 Bradford wool market sees new orders, more inquiry BRADFORD, England, June 12 (Reuter) - Resistance continued to higher prices but some traders say that new orders have come through recently and that there is additional inquiry this week. Some firms were convinced of a rising price trend a while ago and others have joined in taking a bullish view. Even from the retail end where resistrance has been most determined, there is evidence that higher prices being paid in Australia are having some effect. There is little time to go before this season ends and after a break the weight of next season's wool builds up, but there is decreasing scope for a major setback in the market. The stockpile is being sold steadily and quarterly quotas are being met ahead of schedule, underlining a prospect of eventual shortages. Prices in sterling terms have only risen patchily this week with currency working to offset the wool price rise in Australian terms. Varied increases seem to indicate that some firms started from a well-bought position whereas others were slower to adapt to rising raw material prices. Deliveries go out well. 131131 MET jun 97
