Participants in the market saw a lull, pointing out that a good call for deliveries must in due course lead to new orders following on. They hoped a successful Paris Expofil would trigger new buying and traders who went there say wool and wool-blends went down very well. Recent wool price rises may be holding back better business as resistance even to old price levels was determined, and establishing rises that are quite substantial for merinos is difficult. Traders said retailers may before long accept that they have to pay more. Retail sales have been good in the clothing sector. 101000 MET jun 97
