Support remained intact at 72.00 cents, but market sources said the contract is technically positioned to take out the key level by Friday. The next downside target was pegged at the life-of-contract low of 71.00 cents. Bullish news from Thursday's weekly export and sales data and from the monthly consumption report could lend temporary support to prices. For the most part, the data are not expected to influence prices significantly. The benchmark July contract closed down 0.23 cents at 72.12 cents, having ranged from 72.55 to 72.10 cents. New-crop December ended 0.25 cent weaker at 74.52 cents. Volume was estimated at 6,000 lots compared with Tuesday's official 6,310 lots. 221101 MET may 97
