Increased local supplies and lower consumption in Pakistan were cited as being the main reason for a decline in its imports. At the close the palm oil sector was mostly $2.50 to $5 below Wednesday's close. The drop in prices on the palm oils sparked off slightly better trade than seen recently, although the overall volume remained on the light side. Palm olein traded ranged from $580 down to $576.50 on April and through to Jul which fetched $565, while stearin saw just the one trade at $437 for April. Crude palm oil and RBD were untraded. A lack of interest and a lower palm oil sector saw the lauric oils sector beat a retreat also, with selling levels at the close $2.50 to $7.50 easier. Coconut oil traded Mar/Apr at $725, Apr/May at $720 and $715 and May/Jun at $710. Palmkernel oil traded just Mar/Apr at $720 and $717.50. The soft oils ended Thursday 0.25 to 0.75 guilders firmer but with only a handfull of trades reported as traders appeared willing to wait for Friday, so that they can look at how the Chicago soybean oil futures end before committing themselves. Soy oil traded May/Jul at 100 guilders and Aug/Oct at 101, while rape oil traded a switch from May/Jul into Aug/Oct at a 1.75 guilder spread.
