Traders said fundamentals were strong with Asia and the U.S. seeing firm markets. Talk of lower stocks at the end of the year was another factor underpinning the market. The Palm and Lauric Oil Prices Outlook Forum being held this weekend in Kuala Lumpur was also affecting prices, traders said. "There seems to be a pattern whereby palm oil prices rise ahead of the forum," said one. However, business is expected to remain quiet on Friday with many players in Asia and some from Europe making their way to Kuala Lumpur for the forum while a trade dinner is held in Rotterdam on Friday evening. "Unless Chicago does something totally unexpected on Thursday night, I cannot see much happening on Friday," said one trader. At the close crude palm oil cif Europe was unchanged to $2.50 up while products were $2.50 to $7.50 higher with no further business reported. Lauric oils closed with coconut oil $2.50 to $54 higher and palmkernel oil unchanged in neglected markets. Soft oils finish below their highs for the day with soy oil 0.50 to one guilder up and rape oil 0.50 to 0.75 guilders higher. Soy oil traded at 107.50 guilders for Aug/Sep and 106 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill for Nov/Jan. Rape oil fetched 104.75, 104.50 and 105 guilders for Aug/Oct and 106 guilders for Nov/Jan.
