SERBIAN NATIONAL PARTY'S PEACE PROPOSAL

ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - Serbian National Party (SNS) presented its proposal for the peace plan and the resolution of the Croatian-Serbian issue in Croatia entitled Peace without an Alternative. "Croatian policy should not get into the temptation of not accepting it," President of SNS Milan Dukic told a press conference held in the Croatian Parliament's house today. President of the SNS representatives' club Veselin Pejnovic stated that the proposal foresees the change of the Constitutional Law on human and minority rights and the change of the legal regulation on the Knin and Glina districts. SNS proposes that they be granted the status of counties (i.e. of one single Knin-Glina autonomous region). SNS proposes the change of the election law in that "the ethnic community chooses the granted representatives by votes of the voters of the ethnic community." The proposal also says that the Ministry of Justice, Foreign Ministry, Administration Ministry, Ministry of the Internal Affairs and Defense Ministry should nominate the representatives to certain posts, according to Pejnovic. The peace proposal also favors "rephrasing the titles of officials' ranks in the Croatian Army for the soldiers of a certain county or the local autonomy, and that they publish the share of Serbs in the defense of some of the most important battlefields in Croatia. SNS proposes introducing "apart from the Croatian language, the Serbo- Croatian, Croat-Serbian or Serbian language in the official usage." The representatives of SNS also stated that their peace proposal contains "signs of confederation, but the right to cessation is not mentioned anywhere." peace proposal was forwarded to the Croatian President, Parliamentary President, Croatian State Committee for the Normalization of Serbian- Croatian Relations and the heads of UNPA Sectors who are expected to deliver it to Beli Manastir, Knin, Petrinja and Glina.
