ZAGREB, Nov l8 (Hina) -UNPROFOR Head for Civil Affairs Mr. Cedric
Thornberry said today at a regular press-conference in Zagreb that
each warring faction in Bosnia-Herzegovina was deliberately
blocking a free passage to humanitarian convoys and this was the
main reason for the critical situation concerning relief aid to B-
H.
According to data presented at this press briefing 40 convoys
escorted by the UNPROFOR, delivered successfully more than 2,000
tones of food for Central Bosnia the last month, whereas in last
week only 11 convoys with 350 tons of food managed to deliver aid.
Mr. Thornberry said that UN Security Council expressed deep
concern over developments in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Today's meeting of
U.N. High Commissioner Ms. Ogata in Geneva with representatives of
the Moslem, Serbian and Croatian delegations should contribute in
finding a solution to this problem.
Clashes raging in Central Bosnia completely disconnected
delivering supplies via the Croatian coast, while the Serbs did not
allow convoys to have a free passage.
Mr. Thornberry pointed out that use of force might yield some
results, but the question what could be undertaken afterwards,
remained without answers.
