KARLOVAC, Nov 14 (Hina) - At the encouragement and in the presence of the
UN Protection Force in Sector North, representatives of the Croatian Army
command and the Police Department in Karlovac met with representatives of
the Serb rebel authorities at the confrontation line in the Karlovac suburb
of Turanj on Sunday afternoon.
They agreed on a cease-fire, which is to take effect as of noon on 15
November. If the cease-fire was honoured, it would be possible for
UNPROFOR, EC monitors and relief convoys to use a road through Turanj,
which has been closed to traffic over the last two months, and the exchange
of family parcels and letters would also resume.
The Croatian Army commander in the Karlovac region, Brigadier Pavao
Miljevac, told reporters that today's talks centred only on the
implementation of the cease-fire agreement and not on political issues.
A joint commission to supervise the cease-fire is to meet tomorrow.
