SARAJEVO, Nov 4 (Hina) - In a coordinated action, Croatian Defence
Council (HVO) and Bosnian army forces yesterday gained control over
100 to 150 square kms in the Kupres area, an UNPROFOR news
conference was told today.
According to UN military observers, the Bugojno-Livno road is
now completely under HVO and Bosnian army control. The frontline is
now situated west of that road.
UN spokesman Tim Spicer said the Serb forces were forced to
withdraw to about 10 km from central Kupres. The HVO and the
Bosnian army are now in full control of the Kupres plateau.
The Kupres operation was very important because it ensured
better communication between central Bosnia and Herzegovina during
winter, UN officials said.
The Serb artillery yesterday retaliated by shelling the Suica
area (5 km S.W. of Kupres), UN officials said.
