CROATIAN HOUSE OF REPS ADOPTS DECLARATION ON SLOVENE ACT

ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina)- "We thoroughly condemn an Act from the Slovene Parliament which annexes part of Croatian territory to Slovenia," the Croatian Parliament House of Representatives said in a declaration which was accepted this evening. The Croatian declaration follows the Slovene Parliament passing the Municipalities Act which treats four Croatian villages part of the Piran municipality. Eighty-four Croatian parliamentary deputies voted in favour of the declaration, and one deputy sustained. "The Republic of Croatia regards the Slovene Parliament decision as null and void," the declaration said. "It is contrary to the Act on mutual recognition of the two states and out of line with international law. "We expect the Slovene Parliament will rescind provisions in the Act referring to the Croatian villages. "The Croatian Parliament orders its Government to take all necessary measures to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia," the declaration stressed. The House of Representatives concluded that Parliament was to send the declaration to the Slovene Government. A multi-party parliamentary delegation is to be formed to visit the villages of Skudelin, Buzim, Mlini and Skrilje in the Buje municipality in the line with one of the conclusions. The House of Representatives is to continue a session at 09:30 tomorrow. Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic is to address Parliament on Monday rendering a report on the circumstances under which the UN Security Council had adopted the resolution on the extension of the UNPROFOR mandate in Croatia.
