CROATIA'S FOREIGN MINISTER ON 'SLOVENE TERRITORIAL PRETENSIONS'

ZAGREB, Oct 4, (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic said a move by Slovenian Parliament treating four Croatian villages as part of Slovenia, was a "blatant act with territorial pretensions on Croatia". "It questions all talks between the two countries until now," Granic said this evening on Croatian state television. Granic said the Croatian Government and Parliament would discuss the Slovene Parliament law. He said Croatia would probably seek international arbitration on problems with Slovenia. Croatia would also inform the European Union and the UN Security Council of the Slovene Parliament move. Meanwhile, Croatia's Foreign Ministry said Granic would give an official note to the Slovene ambassador in Croatia, Matija Malesic, on the matter. Earlier today the Ministry demanded an explanation from Malesic on the Slovenian Parliament law which treats the Croatian villages of Mlini, Buzin, Skrilje, Skudelini as part of Slovenia.
