SARAJEVO, Oct 6, (Hina) - After a ten day blockade, Sarajevo
Airport, is to be reopened today, UNHCR spokesman Kris Janowski
said, adding that humanitarian airlifts could start tomorrow.
UN spokesperson in Sarajevo, Claire Grimes, said today that an
agreement to reopen the airport came after eight-hour talks in Pale
yesterday between UN special envoy Yasushi Akashi and Bosnian Serb
leader Radovan Karadzic.
Akashi had rejected any kind of conditional reopening of
Sarajevo airport and a revision of the May 1992 agreement under
which 'blue helmets' had taken control of the airport.
