ZAGREB, May 31 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament's House of
Representatives continued its session today.
The session was addressed by independent representative Ferenc
Farago who read an appeal by the Democratic Union of Croatian
Hungarians for an end to ethnic cleansing in the occupied areas of
Croatia.
The appeal said that about 40 percent of the ethnic Hungarians
were in exile, half of whom remained to live in occupied areas and
the other half sought refuge elsewhere in Croatia.
The ethnic cleansing of Hungarians and human rights abuses
continued in the Serb-occupied Baranja and Eastern Slavonia regions
where the majority of Hungarians had lived before 1991, Farago
said. He stressed that the Serbs wanted to drive all non-Serbs out
of the regions.
In some villages in Baranja, Hungarian and Croat houses were
marked with yellow and red paint, which recalled the darkest days
of fascism, Farago said.
