CROATIAN FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVES OTTO VON HABSBURG

ZAGREB, May 21 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic received a European Parliament member and the International Pan- European Union's head, Dr. Otto von Habsburg, in Zagreb on Sunday. Dr. Habsburg arrived in Croatia yesterday for a two-day visit. The talks were concentrated mostly on Croatia's involvement into European integration processes, Granic said after the meeting. "We expect that the talks between the Republic of Croatia and the European Union will continue on trade and cooperation, as well as on our inclusion into the PHARE programme and our full admittance to the Council of Europe in September," Granic said adding that he and Dr. Habsburg discussed how to better inform European Parliament members about the developments in Croatia. The talks between Granic and Habsburg focused on the entire situation in the region, particularly in the occupied Croatian areas. They considered also the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina in the light of the Mostar agreement, the Zenica meeting and the Belgrade negotiations between an American official in the five- nation Contact Group, Robert Frasure, and Serbia's President Slobodan Milosevic, according to Granic. Speaking of Croatia's inclusion into the European unification Dr. Otto von Habsburg said "I think that there we have made some steps ahead," and added that the progress was made thanks to Mr. Granic who is "an extremely active minister of foreign affairs." "We can be very optimistic, first of all, because of events in western Slavonia, and then because the international atmosphere has improved" Dr. Otto von Habsburg. Habsburg is to tour Okucani, Stara Gradiska and Pakrac this afternoon. (hina) mms 211249 MET may 95
