ZAGREB, May 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Government today decided to
pay an additional monthly sum of 50 kunas to every retiree until
the end of the year, beginning this month.
Prime Minister Nikica Valentic said this was the most the
Government could do afford at the moment, because only 180 million
kunas had been earmarked for that purpose.
The Government relieved Deputy Prime Minister Borislav Skegro
of his duties as the chairman of the Managing Board of the Bank
Rehabilitation Agency. Prime Minister Nikica Valentic was appointed
as the new chairman because, as he put it, "the bank rehabilitation
process was so complex that the Agency must be managed by the Prime
Minister himself."
