ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - Emergency relief assistance from the
International Committee of the Red Cross was to be delivered today
to the people of Western Slavonia currently being held in Vukovar,
the ICRC Zagreb said in a statement.
A total of 1,000 blankets, 1,000 food parcels, jerry cans for
water, detergent and soap will be available for distribution to the
men - around 500 - who are currently assembled in a sports hall in
Bjelovar.
Red Cross Messages, enabling the men to re-establish contacts
with their families will also be distributed.
Teams of delegates from the ICRC will today complete the
process of registration and hand out Red Cross Messages in the
other places where men continue to be held after being taken from
the area of Pakrac. Around 700 men still remain in Varazdin, Pozega
and Daruvar, the ICRC communique said.
